Our primary goal is accuracy. We rely on a variety of historical records, including:

  • Vital Records (Birth, Marriage, and Death certificates)

  • Military Pension Files and Draft Cards

  • Ship manifests and Immigration documentation

2. The Role of AI and NotebookLM

To synthesize vast amounts of historical data into readable narratives, we utilize advanced AI tools, specifically Google’s NotebookLM.

  • Data Analysis: We upload primary source documents directly into a secured AI environment.

  • Narrative Drafting: The AI assists in organizing timelines and drafting the biographical stories you see on this blog.

  • Grounded Results: Unlike general AI, our process uses “grounded” technology, meaning the AI is instructed to only use the specific records we provide, significantly reducing errors.

3. Human Verification

While AI is a powerful assistant, it is not the final author. Every blog post and family tree connection undergoes a human review process. We verify key dates, locations, and familial links to ensure the narrative aligns with the provided historical evidence.

4. Terms of Use & Correction Policy

Branches and Borders is provided as a public resource to assist others in their own genealogical journeys. However, please note the following:
